Dating is a major part of our social lives. You meet someone you are interested in, you go somewhere, have fun, and repeat. Except, its not that simple. The repeat part isn’t always guaranteed, especially if you do not mix well with the person you were dating. Everyone is different, so dating may not come as easily to some of us. Be prepared to go through some troubles, and have ups and downs with dating. There are some dating tips that will really help you have a successful date, even if the person and you do not like each other. Its worth it to try and keep your date interested.
Babbling about things that are not important or come off as bigoted and rude is a surefire way to get your date to leave on the spot. A first date isn’t the time to discuss your political views, or why you hate a particular person. It comes off as too strong and too fussy. No one likes that to start off with! Ask about what your date likes to do, what he or she does for a living, and what her dreams are. Asking serious yet lightweight questions will get you in the mode for the next date, and the next.
Don’t act cocky, fake, or pretend to like something that you really don’t. This sets you up for disaster and definitely happens more often than you think. Your date will be much more inclined to date you again if you have something in common, but also not in common. Uncommon traits can keep him or her interested, and intrigued. Its important to keep them in a cloud of mystery!
Don’t be rude to others, or your date. It is an instant end to your date, and all future dates. No one likes a rude person, whether it’s a girl doing it or a guy. Be nice to the waiter if you are at a restaurant, leave a generous tip, and never act loud or obnoxious. Your date isn’t married to you and doesn’t have to put up with it! If your date is rude though, make up for it by explaining to the person who served you, but only when your date has left the room. Even if your date is a loser, it doesn’t mean he or she has to make you look like one!
Of course, small gifts don’t hurt on a first date, or any date for that matter! A simple gesture of kindness is always polite and greatly appreciated. Just don’t go overboard with jewelry or anything expensive. It might come off as pushy, desperate, or as if you just want to impress your date.
Be yourself. Talk about what you like, and learn what your date likes. Being who you really are is the best way to land another date, again and again.
