The Benefits Of Hearing Aids That Have Touch Screen Features Written on February 1, 2010, by Internet Garner.

Technology has finally allowed the hearing loss industry to provide cost effective devices that expand their functionality for end users. Touch screen technologies are now being implemented in order to give users the ability to have greater accessibility and gain more from the average hearing aid.

The touch screen technology seeks to replace the mechanical technology put in place by most hearing aids on the market today. Using a knob or potentiometer is fine in most cases, but it isn’t as functional when you are preoccupied with other matters. With a touch screen, you are able to simply swipe the top of the hearing aid and instantly have a higher or lower volume level.

A problem that the hard of hearing had with hearing aids was that they weren’t quickly adjusted in times of great urgency. You might get a phone call while handling children, for instance. Tinkering around with your ear piece isn’t viable when you have to hold a phone and handle the antics of children at the same time. With touch screen technology, you would only need to quickly touch your ear piece once and be done with the matter.

Due to the “closed” architecture that is used by digital hearing aids with touch screen functionality, there is greater protection from moisture. Previously, users of hearing aids had to be particularly careful when in humid environments such as a bathroom after hot water has been run. Digital hearing aids have much more leeway in the moisture levels they can operate under.

Expect the average touch screen design to last longer than conventional hearing aids. Grime and dirt that get caught in conventional hearing aids will cause the devices to fail over a long enough time span- it’s something that is unavoidable. Touch screen designs don’t have the same exterior parts that tend to fail and be vulnerable to the elements. Therefore, the insides of the device are greater protected from dust, moisture, and dirt.

It couldn’t get any better: digital hearing aids have all the great new technology, yet also offer it at a great price as compared to conventional hearing aids. A conventional hearing aid is more costly when you consider the life span of the device and overall usability of the device. Touch screen digital hearing aids work best when you need functionality and a great intuitive interface, yet also need a hearing aid to last as long as you need it to without falling apart.

Digital hearing aids are the new standard for hearing aids. It’s hard to go back to a mechanical-based design after having experienced the glories of a hearing aid with little maintenance. Talk to your doctor to see if you can obtain a touch-enabled hearing aid for your own solution to hearing loss woes.
